The Food Research Center, as part of its attribution as a research, innovation, and dissemination center, provides various analysis services performed with tools from the FoRC multi-user equipment park upon request using specific forms:

▪ Flow Cytometry
Flow cytometry performs simultaneous analysis of multiple properties of single particles (0.2 to 150 µm), usually from cell suspensions or disaggregated cell tissue, which are intercepted by laser emissions whose light, in addition to being scattered, causes molecules to fluoresce through excitation. Photomultipliers collect scattered light, providing data on particle size and internal complexity. Fluorescence emission is also collected and can be used to measure various soluble and intracellular proteins, including cytokines, chemokines, growth factors, and phosphorylated cell signaling proteins.

As an integral part of the CEPID – Food Research Center (FoRC) multi-user equipment park, the BD FACSVerse flow cytometer has a universal loader accessory for automated sample collection and the FACSuite software as an operational and data analysis tool. It is housed in the Laboratory of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Food, in a space provided by the Department of Food and Experimental Nutrition (FBA) of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences (FCF) of the University of São Paulo (USP), in block 14, upper floor, at Av. Professor Lineu Prestes, 580, Cidade Universitária, São Paulo, SP.

To schedule use, complete the forms below and send them to jronasci@usp.br.
The appointment must be requested at least 10 days before the intended date.

▪ Proteomics and metabolomics
The equipment forming the platform for proteomics and metabolomics of the CEPID – Food Research Center (FoRC) multi-user equipment park meets the demands for large-scale analysis of proteins and metabolites in biological systems, either by targeted or non-targeted approaches. The platform is allocated in space made available by the Dept. of Chemical Engineering at the Polytechnic School of the Univ. de São Paulo, in the Semi-Industrial Building, ground floor, Rua do Lago, 250, Cidade Universitária, SP / São Paulo.

The equipment comprising the platform is as follows:

– One amaZon SL model mass spectrometer (IonTrap type analyzer), Bruker Daltonics brand;
– One mass spectrometer, compact model (Q-ToF analyzer), Bruker Daltonics brand, coupled high-speed liquid chromatography system, UFLCXR model with diode array detector, Shimadzu brand;
– One mass spectrometer, Impact II model (Q-ToF analyzer), Bruker Daltonics, coupled to a liquid phase nano-chromatography system, model NCS-3500RS, Thermo Scientific.

All equipment has various accessories, including the following:
– Ion source for chemical ionization at atmospheric pressure, model APCI II;
– Fountain CaptiveSpray nanoBooster;
– ESI ionization source – Electrospray, model Apollo II (Bruker Daltonics);
– Software for data analysis and tools for proteomics and metabolomics analysis (MetaboliteTools™ 2.0 SR1);

– One mass spectrometer with a triple quadrupole type analyzer (QQQ, EVOQ ELITE model, Bruker Daltonics brand).
